Read background info on our Long Island Railroad!

Were any of your ancestors living in Port Washington in June of 1898?  If so, it is very likely that on June 23 of that year, they were among the thousands of people who gathered at the new railroad station, to greet the first train to ever arrive in our town.

So join us for a few minutes as we celebrate and commemorate the day, while we mount an Historic Recognition Plaque next to the front door of Port’s LIRR station.
